WORK & PLAY WEEKEND
October 11, 2009

This is a story about Starland getting yet another trailer... only this trailer is actually "nice." That is, it's in usable good shape... and it's bigger.

This picture was NOT taken at Starland, BUT this adventure starts out in the suburb of Mar Vista, California. The trailer was left behind by the previous owner. Our friend, Jeff, acquired the trailer from a realtor friend who was selling the house for over a year. During that time, Jeff refurbished the trailer with a new coat of paint, repacked the four wheel bearings, and made sure the tires are road worthy. Saturday, I (Matrix) helped Jeff ready the trailer for transport to Starland. Jeff inspects the hitch lock for a "weak point." I brought an acetylene cutting torch to cut the darn thing off.

Still in the suburb of Mar Vista... the trailer is a twenty-two footer and in very good shape. It has two double beds, and is fully equipped to use either propane, 110V hook-up, or 12V. The trailer has both working air conditioning and heating.

This is NOT Starland, BUT Jeff found a viable spare tire for the trailer!

This is NOT Starland, BUT we were finally able to cut off the hitch lock with the torch. It was a squeeze to pull the trailer out of the slim rear yard gate and thru the narrow alley, but no scratches! We're all set for the road to Starland, all 140 miles from Los Angeles to Yucca Valley.

Finally we arrive at Starland with the trailer. Matrix's Ford Super Duty F-350 had no problem pulling the trailer all the way from Los Angeles to Yucca Valley.

We decided to place the trailer close to Mohabee's cabin at the bluff next to the wash. ... what a view!

Before we back the trailer completely into it's new slot, we grade "up" a section as level as possible using water and hand soil compactor and also removed part of a fence to make more room..

The trailer is placed perfectly and Jeff begins to place the jack-strands appropriately to hold its' level position.

Placing the jack stands... note the great view for the trailer.
