MATRIX'S SECOND VISIT
November 15, 1998
The Main Hall & Canyon Hike again
Photos by Matrix, some by Mohabee, comments by Matrix
I couldn't wait to come again after my first visit.
Note the pictures of the Main Hall; the cement pad was poured, the basic wood framing and
the roof was finished. No cabins yet.
On this hike I took note of the dramatic rock formations in
the canyon.
The Starland Greeting Crew...
'How I was greeted upon my second trip to Starland...
smiling faces, warm weather, and the lack of a dress-code... what's not to like?

The Main Hall
The Main Hall (a to-be communal activities area) in the
middle of being constructed. It will have three doors, five
big windows, wiring for stage lighting, excellent insulation, and a big powerful
"swamp cooler" for hot days. In winter, it will be extremely cozy. The Main Hall
sits on its own plateau separate from the House. Not far is the fir-pit area and
later to come, a shower room with sinks.
Mohabee leans in though a window.
The Main Hall
The Main Hall on its own plateau facing the east side. This
is sort of Starland's front yard. The back yard (behind us) is the canyon
wilderness we showed earlier.

Now looking at The Main Hall from the east. The driveway
entrance to Starland passes in the back towards the garden and down to the right
of the Main Hall.

The tire tracks eventually dead-end after a short distance beyond. Only hiking
on foot is possible.

Oooo.. oh, hey, he's dark... that's an anglo-indio ... more like a brown
American actually. --pay mo attention to that -he's got issues

Canyon rocks... and Matrix is lovin' it! -It's OK to
have a nature fetish... isn't it?

"Starland Valley"
'Looking towards Starland from way back in the wash, you can see the neighbor's white
trailers way in the distance, all one of them.
The sun is setting... time to trek back.
Lichens on dark rock -probably
volcanic rock.
There is much for a mineral enthusiast to enjoy out here as well as others who
enjoy a myriad of flora and fauna.
There is a great deal of evidence of ancient volcanic rock formations out here.
Lichens are a composite of certain alga and fungus that appear to be symbiotic.
Some are brightly colored such as this bright green species.

Mohabee & Tractor
No doubt, the original owner used this tractor to haul silver oar from his
silver claim and probably also to bring his own building materials (boulders and
sand) up from the wash for his homestead that we now like to call Starland.

Mail and garbage must be walked in and out to this point.
Our only "close" neighbor is shrouded in trees and a hill at upper left. Otherwise,
we see no one.

"THE GAY BITCH" Rock...
on the road from Starland
Imprinted on my memory forever as a strange send-off as I
drove home from this wondrous "Star-Land" -my second visit. I have no
idea what to think of this message along the road as I drove away from Starland.
Of course the message on this only huge boulder along the high-way has
long-since faded away, but what a funny bit of a phrase.... why did someone take
the effort? Did someone in the desert have a "gay" feeling and get mad about it?
